Our Weekend in Pictures

We had a fabulous weekend. Let me tell you about it:
Friday night, Mr. B and I loaded up the kids and took them a few blocks over to our school district’s football stadium. The high school near us was playing my brother’s Alma Mater in the first game of the season (with a 6pm start time so we could watch a little football and get Mr. T home for his 7 o’clock bedtime…my children turn into pumpkins after 7pm). Thomas was all about it – he picked out his “football shirt” to wear – his favorite because he loves the number 5 – and was saying hi to the high school kids, announcing the plays: “Blue 42! He drops back, he hands it off! Touchdown!” It was so fun. But, you know how we McKevitts feel about high school football.
On Saturday, we piled into the car and took the kiddos to the 2012 Mile High Lineman Rodeo. Mr. B is an engineer for our local utility company, and in his current position he works out of a service center and has gotten to know the linemen and gas fitters a lot better than he did in his previous position. So last year he dragged me out – admittedly, begrudgingly at first – to support his buddies and we had a blast. When B texted me this week to tell me it was going on again, I immediately texted back “So fun! Let’s go!” Thomas had a blast at the bubble station and climbing the kid sized electrical pole – and Nell enjoyed cuddling with her Mama and schmoozing with the company’s executives.
And on Sunday, Mr. B took Thomas to his first Broncos game. T talked about it all weekend: “I going a Broncos game!” I dropped the boys off outside the stadium and picked them up 2 hours later when they’d had their fill of the heat and seen Manning in action. Thomas got in the car and said, “I a Football game with dada! First down! I be a kicker!” That last part was music to his Mama’s ears. Love me some football, but if my baby boy’s going to play it (although at this point Thomas hasn’t met a sport he doesn’t want to play), I want him to be the kicker.  Because I have a lot of say in the matter.
It was a perfect weekend: busy, but busy with things we chose to do. There’s not anything more fun than watching a toddler discover the world – and even better if we get to rediscover it through his eyes!

  1. What a lovely weekend! :)

  2. I’m a stickler about the 7 pm bedtime too! You’d think people with kids would understand but a lot don’t. Whatever. Charlie went to the broncos game on Sunday and left early because he was melting. He came home talking about season tickets. Haha. Sounds like a good weekend!

  3. you guys are one cute family, that’s for sure! glad you had a great weekend!

  4. That sounds like a great weekend! It’s funny that you say your kids turn into pumpkins. We use that phrase all the time around here, because our daughter turns into a pumpkin if you mess with bedtime too!
