When the nursery was Thomas’s room, I convinced myself that the board and batten was all I needed. But now that I’ve added more color? I feel the need to balance that color out on the walls. And I’m drawing a blank on what to do that with – and how to do it without distracting from my beloved board and batten.
More monograms – this one feels more feminine to me. I’d skip the flowers behind it. Baby steps, friends, baby steps.
As this post has evolved, I’m realizing I’m drawn to letters and monograms, so maybe I should run with that. But what am I missing? What brilliant nursery wall decor solutions have you seen or put into practice? I’m usually really good at making decisions (well, that whole issue of a boy’s name not withstanding), but right now, this mama needs guidance.
i definitely like the idea of an initial or monogram the best – seems like it will grow a little better with baby than the other ideas (which i still think are cute too, though!). and you could more easily move around a letter or three or repaint them, etc. if the room changes or the mood strikes.
i have the hardest time with wall art too… i always end up settling and don’t like what i’ve chosen..
I LOVE the Sarah Richardson room, but I have to say that I’d be turned off by trying to find all the different colors/styles/sizes of letters. That seems like a lot of work and stress. And I think the differences are what make it. I think that one large letter would be fabulous, or the name. And much more doable.
I tend to over-do walls. So much so that I have too much stuff I wanna do in the nursery so I have yet to do anything. That’s perfectly silly.
I LOVE the Sarah Richardson alphabet letters and I think they’d be PERFECT along the trim. I’ve started collecting letters at Goodwill Outlet in hopes that ONE DAY I’ll have enough for that project. Maybe if we’re lucky enough to make baby #2 one day. But any craft store will have several different sizes and shapes of letters, so that’d totally be a do-able project if you’re up for it! I think I’ve seen the most variety at Jo-Ann’s Fabrics.
I’m AWESOME at throwing a million pictures up on every wall of our house, and it took me a really long time to come up with anything I loved for the walls of Katherine’s nursery. It’s an important room! I don’t blame you!
Wall decor paralysis – I have that too! For me I don’t like putting holes in the wall and I also can never find the right pieces in the right scale for the space I need. Rigt now I hve many pictures framed and leaning in the general area of where I should hang them. I love the Sarah Richardson letters and yes you are right it is kind of trendy right now but is it really? I mean all kids need to learn the alphabet right?
I’m loving the monogram. Very classic.
First of all, names and alphabets? They’ll go the distance. Do em up, who cares. Personally, I don’t like the mismatched alphabets, maybe it’s the un-symmetrical-ness (there’s probably a better word for that) of it that bugs me? I dunno. And yeah, tracking them all down sounds like zero fun. What I am a fan of is the names and the big initials. Like, a lot. Maybe that’s why I have W’s all over this joint. And, it’s funny, I would have never thought that monograms would be feminine but yeah, they do kinda lean that way.
Nursery decor
Home made products are best choice for kids as these products are design other supervision,I think baby gifts must be sophisticated and baby products which are necessary for babies.
I think any of these ideas would work great. The name thing may be a bit overdone but I say if you like it then run with it! However if you’re really feeling like doing something different maybe you can twist the alphabet idea and do something similar with numbers. I’ve seen some really cute prints on Etsy and going that route would make this process much easier on you. The nursery is going to be great no matter what you end up doing. Good luck!
First of all, I think it’s important to remember that sometimes, things can be super popular in the decorating community online (the PB scroll candle holder and the Empire West ceiling tiles for example), but probably aren’t nearly as popular in real life. I’ve had both the scroll candle holder and the ceiling tiles in my house before, and nearly every real life friend would say, “Wow! I’ve never seen anything like that before!” while D&R Nesties would probably roll their eyes and say, “AGAIN?!”.
Anyway, my vote when it comes to decor is to do what you love, always, regardless of whether it’s in, out, or overdone online
