I saw this in Pottery Barn back in September (at least I saved it for two months before I subjected you all to Christmas decor).

I love this Advent Calendar - a big beautiful pin board with tags for December 1 - 24th. And instead of chocolate or toys each day, there's an ornament to add to the tree. Wouldn't this be a fun tradition for a family- decorating the tree each day with a new ornament? So fun - and a pretty piece of decor, too!

That's a great idea! We're aren't putting ornaments on the tree until Christmas Eve this year, so this might be cute way to draw out the tradition!
ReplyDeleteLast year we did an Advent
"calendar" with little dollar store boxes with treats inside, or little strips of paper with sayings inside like "give each other a kiss" or "share a hug". It was fun :-)
I love this - It's our first Christmas with just us, so we are getting our first tree and have no ornaments yet. this would be a great idea. I can't find it on the PB website, though!
ReplyDeleteThat's a really cute idea!
ReplyDelete@Alex - I know, I'm glad I saved the picture because I haven't seen it since. It was never for sale, just a display for their ornaments. You could easily recreate by covering a board (homasote, a premade bulletin board, or even foam core) with a nubby fabric (I'd do burlap, but this one looks linen). Then just cut out your tags and you're good to go.
ReplyDeleteIt's never too early for Christmas in my opinion. I love that advent calendar!
ReplyDeleteMy mom has one that is shaped like a Christmas tree and it has a little compartment on the bottom that holds the little decorations. Each day, you put on one "the tree" and by the time Christmas comes, that little tree is all decorated! :)
I love this idea! What a fantastic buildup to Christmas day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea! I might have to look into doing that one.
ReplyDeleteI think that's a fun idea, but I'd want to find some way to hide the ornaments before we opened them. As a kid, waiting to see what was inside was half the fun of the advent calendar for me!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful DIY project - Maybe I'll try to copy it. We'll see . . .
ReplyDeleteCute! What a good idea! I really want a Christmas tree right now. I recognize that we really should wait, though.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Very cute. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! This is definately a good way to make the adultify the counting down the days till christmas.
ReplyDeletePLEASE DO THIS! I absolutely love this idea.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about making an advent-type calendar thing this year, but I didn't really think that treats would work. We don't have kiddos. But, this could be fun. =)
that's really cute. and SUPER easy to make yourself!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I will definitely be making this!
ReplyDeleteI love it. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Now, please show me how you are going to do your DIY version. I have no creativity and rely on you for these things.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! You could do any theme of ornaments or .change them every year. Adorable, and EASY
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute calendar. I'll have to hunt the house for ornament I can use. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOkay, and I was just thinking, wouldn't it be fun to have 25 clear glass ornaments with the number on them. Then, you put a numbered ornament on the tree each day.
ReplyDeleteI love this. And, clearly I have no life.
Love that, such a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteLove. of course. And I was about to start writing a list of materials to make it. Then I remembered that it's just me and the man, who I don't think cares about ornaments. Not much fun playing with an advent calendar all by yourself. boo hoo :) Maybe next year?
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea, and one I think I might steal for myself and the boyfriend this year! Thank you for saving the picture when you did!
ReplyDeleteI love that advent calendar, it looks easy to duplicate. Thanksgiving is kinda late this year, so Christmas decorations wouldn't be up to early if you they were done the following weekend. I counted, Christmas is only 8 weeks away!
ReplyDeleteshut completely up. what a wonderful thing....you're right that it makes a sweet tradition. enjoyed your October goals -- LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool calendar and blog! Thanks for the kind words you left. :) - PB
ReplyDeleteOooh, pretty! I was about to wikipedia "Advent" but then remembered that Mr. FC went to Catholic school for years, so I just asked him--he IS useful after all.
ReplyDelete~Your totally ignorant Buddhist friend,
