Last week I made this sign for our front door. Simple and to the point. I feel it's best for people to be fair warned when entering our imperfect house, anyway.

The project was simple. I bought the wood (pre-cut to size) at Michael's for $0.99. I used my favorite free black paint, my favorite excess white paint, and the graphite transfer method from 4th grade art. Then I just attached wire to cup hooks we already owned (because B was at class and I don't know where he keeps our drill bits), hammered the cup hooks closed, and hung it on my door. Not too bad for less than a buck! I'm following Kim's lead and linking this to DIY Day at A Soft Place to Land.
I love this sign. I'm seriously considering switching out one letter and keeping it up year round.

This makes me laugh - I love it's simplicity and there is nothing else to distract! Super cute Emily!
ReplyDeleteNice. I've seen stuff with that saying this year and I love love love it. I should make one of those to hang up on my bedroom door so the hubby knows if I'm in a grouchy mood or not.
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious. I love it. Is there a "the witch is out" side?
ReplyDeleteCan you believe I don't know the 4th grade art graphite transfer method. I must have flunked art.
I don't know the 4th grade art graphite transfer method either!
ReplyDeleteKim and Meredith - You probably do know this, it probably has a more technical name that I'm unaware of! It's where you scribble pencil on the back of a sheet of printed paper, then put the paper on the object you're working on (graphite scribbled side against the object) and go over the word, picture, etc with a pen - it transfers the image to the object you're working on.
ReplyDeleteCute! Someone at my work actually has that sign on her desk right now! :)
ReplyDeleteHilarious. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Love this!
ReplyDeleteThat's CUTE!
ReplyDeletehaha! I love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd totally forgotten about that technique from art class, so thank you! :)
that seems like such an easy project
ReplyDeleteHilarious! I am a simple girl too!
ReplyDeleteSimple but oh so cute. :-) Apparently I too was aware of the graphite method, I just didn't know there was such a fancy name for it! I think you should keep it up all year long, but dont replace a letter! Keep it up just the way it is. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of holiday decor! When you're ready to switch out the one letter, let me know.....I have several "B"'s laying around. Because I AM one 365 days a year. =]
ReplyDeleteI would love to come knocking at your door. I really enjoyed looking around your blog! What great ideas!!
