So, Monday we woke up to a high of 50 degrees and snow flakes. I threw Sarah's Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Pasta into the crockpot (with yogurt in place of the sour cream because my husband - who claims to be really adventuresome and culinary - doesn't like sour cream), tossed on a wool sweater and ugg boots, and went to work dreaming of this Chicken Tettrazini like crockpot meal. And it was so good. A new favorite. It will be making the bi-weekly rotation this fall and winter.

Tuesday: We had gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches when Mr. B got home from class. Gourmet = sourdough bread and tomato slices with our cheddar. You know how I feel about grilled cheese sandwiches, right? Oh baby, it's love.

While I don't do well in extremely low temperatures, I do love cooking for them. Or, you know, grilling some cheese between two pieces of bread - all depends on the day. But seriously, you're going to want to try the chicken. What are your favorite fall and winter meals?

Mr. T and I LOVE LOVE LOVE chilli! I got a great recipe from Katie over at allbowerpower.wordpress.com Its superb! and now I am going to have to try the chicken! Try the chilli and let me know what you think!
ReplyDeleteoh girl, we do grilled cheese pretty much all the time! We use a little sandwich maker bc we are that lazy! Also that chicken stuff looks awesome. I might have to try it. Oh, also, I have those green plates from PB in cream:)
ReplyDeleteWe had grilled cheese this week too. I love crockpots and I tend to really understand what Sara usually blogs about. That recipe is on my list for next week! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love grilled cheese too. There ain't no shame in that! We love chili, stews, soups and casseroles through the winter months. So warm and cozy. And, I love using my crockpot, too.
ReplyDeleteThat chicken and mushroom pasta looks deeelicious.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to remember what we loved in the cooler weather. It seems like it was ages ago.
I love chicken and dumplings during the winter. The crock pot is pretty much my best friend all winter long!
ReplyDeleteI just can't get over the fact that you guys got snow already!
ReplyDeleteI love my grilled cheese with green apple slices on it. yum.
During the fall/winter, I anything that can be made in a crockpot...taco soup, chili, roast beef, veggie stew, etc. And my DH makes an awesome butternut squash apple soup that I'm obsessed with!
I have a couple recipes that go into the regular rotation throughout the winter. One is a Thai coconut red curry with chicken, and the other is a lemon risotto with smoked salmon. So yummy.
ReplyDeleteI'm digging the cooler weather too!
ReplyDeleteWe should be BFF's again b/c this past summer I ate grilled cheese & tomato at least once a week AND Mr. FC hates sour cream too. AWESOMENESS.
::braiding our friendship bracelets right now::
Can't wait to try the 'shroom chicken, thx!
I've been feeling the same way about food. Which is why I made a pot roast for one the other weekend when C was out of town.
ReplyDeleteHmm ... favorite fall foods: chicken pot pie, apple pie, lasagna, & those awesome pumpkin cupcakes Charlie made. Also, love the grilled cheese but I like mine with swiss & tomato soup.
I can't wait to try the chicken recipe!! YUM!! I love grilled cheese too, it's a cold weather staple in our house. One thing I love to make is turkey pumpkin chili.
ReplyDeleteToday was an Ugg day I was so happy to be reunited with my old friends. So cozy and warm!! : D
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteMy Minnesotan heritage loves casseroles and hot dishes for the cooler temperatures.
ReplyDeleteBut soups are good too.
Soup. Like Mom and Grandma make. Makes me thinking of when I was growing up. And miss Grandma.
ReplyDeleteSNOW!? Sheesh! We could still wear shorts here! My favorite meals are cold weather ones; I love my biscuit topped chicken pot pie, and lately I have been craving crock pot red beans and rice something FIERCE. There's nothing better than rice, beans and sausage. Yum!
ReplyDeleteNot snow already! Bring summer back. I love meatloaf and mashed potatoes in the winter. Also chili. I love the looks of your chicken dish but my step daughter hates mushrooms so I rarely get to cook with them. She also hates cheese and that I just can't compromise on. I love cheese! I think I will have grilled cheese tomorrow for lunch with some tomato soup - yummmm.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I am seriously thinking of making that grilled cheese sandwich tonight, it looks to die for!
ReplyDeleteKaren
